The birth of St. Stephen's Hospital in Budapest looks back on more than one hundred years ago. The classic classroom of the former class of 14 has a row of gyms. Today, expectant babysitters are waiting for their babies.

The turning points of the century

St. Stephen's Hospital is more than a hundred-year-old, and the Department of Obstetrics has been operating there ever since. There are several reasons why the class is considered one of the most popular births in the capital. Over time its operation has reached several turning points.
Until 1989, the midwifery operated as a real classic classroom with 14 beds. It was far from ideal in any way.
The capital's worst-case birth department has undergone several phases of reconstruction. Virtually everything has been rebuilt - only the main walls and the floor have been retained - new small gyms and new building blocks have been created, and the floor area of the entire birth has been expanded. The department did not fully utilize its capacity at this time, with about 7-800 births a year.
As a result of the leadership change in 1992, the development of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has increased even more. Another class structure has evolved. The institute introduced single parenting, parenting and rooming-in. This means that the Newborn is placed next to his mother. Moving early to breast breaks within 30 minutes of giving birth in the birth room. In the maternity ward, infant nursing aids in mastering breastfeeding techniques. In the 15 years from 1992 to 2007, two major changes took place. First of all, the nursery was not age-appropriate because there were three beds in a large room, separated by sheets. Created in the middle of the 1990s, the three independent rooms, and in the following, have led to the creation of a class of 5 single-room rooms.

Baby-friendly department from WHO

In 1998, the institute was awarded the title of Baby Friendly by the WHO Office in Hungary. The requirements are that a baby-friendly class should only be one in which breastfeeding is done first and foremost. There is a criterion of ten points that must be met by the label, and their existence is subject to very strict scrutiny, said Dr. Siklós Pál, chief physician, and then emphasized that it is not the title that is the essence, but the principle and the other.
Babies only get their own breast milk, they do not bring in foreign breast milk, but it may happen that somebody else in the class can get it, under proper hygiene conditions, from another baby. The class is characterized by the fact that almost everyone has the right amount of breast milk for their child - mentions chief Siklus.
It is part of the baby-friendly room that class workers try to breastfeed at regular and on demand by breastfeeding and breastfeeding early. They don't give you tea these days. There is only a medical reason for the baby to be given other fluids than breast milk. Such a medical case may be if the mother does not have enough breast milk and needs fluid reflux.
The institution should try to get all babies to breastfeed, because it is also the best solution for the child's development.

The Happy Birthday Foundation helped a lot

Conditions have become significantly more cultured in the maternity ward over the years. Well, even in the smaller rooms, there was no bathroom, but with proper foundation and hospital support, we were able to create bathroom blocks. Available Three Elected Foundation Halls, with the Happy Birthday Foundation effective support. The standard rooms have a single bathroom, well-equipped rooms with a refrigerator and a TV, which will also serve the comfort of the family. Dads can sleep here too. These basic rooms are permanently full, there is an overwhelming need for them. The purpose of the foundation is to help mum and baby-friendly activities, both in the professional field (in-service training, etc.) and in financial engineering. The foundation also played a major role in the transformation of the nursery. The birth section has 27 beds for pregnant and baby. In 2006, there were 2,750 births in the department. It is only in part that you can make the changes to become the busiest department. The shift in attitudes has also greatly contributed to the increase in the number of births and, of course, plays a role in helping the department work. also the work of externist doctors.

Alternative living room and its compartments

Due to the transformations, the birth of St. Stephen's Hospital became the capital's largest birth department. In the process of changing the room, the institution has taken into account the need for parents to choose their position in the ward and parenthood. One of the rooms is designed as an alternative room, but of course the other can be born in an alternative position. The alternative has a bathtub in the living room, a flexible ball, a ribbed wall, and in Hungary first introduced water security about ten years ago. Many people take advantage of the pain-relieving and relaxation of water. The choice of free doctor and midwifery is a given, and they are numerous, as both the obstetrician and the person of the midwife are important links in the birth process.

What's important to a little baby

In painkillers, the institute primarily favors psychosomatic painkillers. The essence of this is that the little baby is ready to become pregnant just before she is pregnant. They are asked questions about what is parenting, how it is done, what are the options for butter, and what position is beneficial for you. Of course, there is also the possibility of injectable pain relief. During an episode, relatively few people seek epidural anesthesia. The possibility of stem cell correspondence is given, the department can technically assure the conditions. There is also an infant examination to a certain level, and an infant dispensary can be provided. The ward supports the normal vaginal delivery, but in a medically justified case, naturally, a cesarean section is performed. In 2006, the cesarean section was 20.5%. Looking at the mother, the cesarean delivery rate is higher than normal birth. It is, therefore, the opinion of the institute that a cesarean section should be performed if it is more useful for the mother or the fetus than for vaginal delivery. Change in attitudes has also changed in the last 5-10 years. The department carries out significantly less barrier incision than in the previous period. Nowadays, the mother's explicit consent is required to perform some form of incision, says chief physician Siklus.
